The EuroPro Tour is quickly becoming one of the most participated in and talked about feeder tours around. It is now almost as big as its bigger brother the Challenge Tour and countless players are progressing up through the ranks onto a mainstream tour.
Last week saw the tour come to Burhill for one of their headline events, the IFX Championships. Starting with a Pro-Am last Tuesday, the Pro's then battled out over the next three days to provide an eventual winner. A total of 168 players participated in the event with a cut to 54 for the final day on Friday. We saw 4 Burhill players in the field, with members Alex Tonge and Robert prior competing alongside Assistant professionals Morgan Kennedy and Erik Nilsson.
Unfortunately we didn't see any of them on the final day but Alex's 2nd Round 69 was a spectacle and he narrowly missed the cut by one shot.
Local boy Greg Payne from Chobham Golf Club held the lead for the first two days with an incredible course record 64 on Wednesday. Unfortunately couldn't hold off Royal Wimbledon professional Richard Edginton, who eventually won by 2 shots with an overall 11 under par for the week. A fantastic tournament, well done Richard

A huge thank you must go to the members, not only for giving up the course for the week but especially to all those who volunteered for a combination of starting, scoring, ball spotting and many more. Without this generosity the event would not be the success it is, Thank you.

Finally, a huge well done to Rob Surgey and his team, the weight of positive comments from the professionals and PGA alike has almost been overwhelming. Many of the pro's pushed their thoughts onto Social Media with comments like 'the best greens we will play on all year' and 'the course was just stunning'. I'm sure any members that have played out on the New over the weekend will agree. So well done Rob.

Our next major external event is the Regional Qualifier for the 145th Open. This is being held at Burhill on the 20th June, so please feel free to come down and watch, support, and if willing volunteer. All volunteers receive an invite to an R&A hosted cocktail party at the club, 3 guest passes from me, lunch, and probably some further gifts form the R&A. Not only that you will also see some of the best up and coming golfers in the area. If you are interested, please feel free to drop me an email or give me a call.
