Captains’ 2025 Charity
Our 2025 club Captains have selected Shooting Star Children’s Hospices as their chosen charity for Burhill Golf Club to support for 2025.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or whose child has died.

Meet the Team
Wesley Cooper
Interim General Manager
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Wesley Cooper as Interim General Manager and delighted to welcome him back to Burhill, where many members will remember his five years with the club earlier in his career.
Most recently, he has worked as a management consultant supporting leading clubs including Frilford Heath and West Herts, delivering strategic and capital projects.
Previously, Wesley served as General Manager at The Buckinghamshire and as CEO of Moor Park, leading major clubhouse and course developments.
Darren Wood
Head of Golf Operations
Darren joined in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his 19 years at the prestigious RAC.
In 2011, he became a fully qualified PGA Professional, and now leads the Golf Operations team with a focus on excellence, ensuring members and guests enjoy the best on and off the course. Darren continues to play a key role in upholding Burhill’s reputation as one of Surrey’s finest golfing venues.
Stuart Barr
Head of Clubhouse Operations
Stuart has over 25 years of experience in the private members club sector, providing a wealth of knowledge and expertise in enhancing the member experience, having dedicated his career to understanding the unique needs and preferences of club members. His ongoing commitment to fostering a welcoming and enjoyable environment aligns perfectly with our mission at Burhill Golf Club.
Rob Surgey
Senior Course Manager
Rob has a distinguished career that includes experience at renowned venues like Wentworth and The Forest of Arden, bringing a wealth of knowledge to our courses. He has expertly prepared for over 11 European Tour events. Rob’s commitment to excellence and his profound understanding of course management ensures that our courses remain in pristine condition for an outstanding golfing experience.
David Hanlon
Executive Chef
David, whose award-winning culinary expertise brings exceptional dining experiences to our members and guests. With over 35 years of experience in the industry, David has honed his skills at prestigious clubs such as Foxhills and Oakley Court. His cooking style reflects a contemporary British flair, showcasing his deep passion for locally sourced, seasonal, and fresh produce. This distinctive approach shines through in every special menu he creates.
