Designed by Willie Park Junior and unveiled in 1907, our beautiful parkland course exudes timeless charm while offering a compelling blend of heritage and modern challenge. Strategy is paramount on the Old Course, with its smooth, quick, and subtly contoured greens, numerous doglegs where precision proves vital, and thoughtfully positioned hazards that test every aspect of your game.
The championship New course, opened in 2001, offers a completely different character from the Old Course. Strategic bunkering & many water hazards including the River Mole that winds gracefully through, it presents a thoroughly modern golfing experience. A proud host venue for The Regional Open & Senior Open Qualifying, the New Course has earned its reputation as a true test of championship golf.
Located between the 8th and 9th holes on both courses, our halfway house offers the perfect opportunity to recharge before taking on the back nine. Don’t miss our famous sausage roll—this beloved favourite has a reputation for reinvigorating players and adding some extra energy to their game.
Nick Moran
Executive General Manager
Nick joined as General Manager at Burhill in 2022 and brings a wealth of commercial and operational experience spanning over 25 years working in golf, hospitality, travel and leisure businesses. This, aligned with being a keen golfer and long standing golf club member, means that he has an excellent understanding of what is required for Burhill Golf Club and its members.
Darren Wood
Head of Golf Operations
As Head of Golf Operations, Darren joined Burhill from The RAC Club in Autumn 2021. He spent almost 20 years in variety of roles at that club. Darren spent 10 years coaching the Surrey Under 14’s as part of the County Academy Program with several Burhill Members coming through the Surrey set up. He started his golf journey as a junior member of Hawick GC in the Scottish borders, competing in home events and junior events around Scotland.
Stuart Barr
Head of Clubhouse Operations
Having spent near 25 years in the Private Members Club, Stuart brings with him a wealth of knowledge to the member experience at Burhill. When not at the Club Stuart spends a lot of his time as a member of the Institute of Hospitality sharing ideas and giving guidance and support to fellow hospitality professionals
Rob Surgey
Senior Course Manager
Rob, who has been with the company for over 10 years, has had previous experience working at Wentworth and the Forest of Arden preparing courses for over 11 European Tour events including the English Open, PGA Championship and World Matchplay Championships. Rob is married to Sam and they have two young children. He has a current golf handicap of 2 and holds the course record at his home Club Alfreton, in Derbyshire.
David Hanlon
Executive Chef
David is an award-winning chef with over 20 years experience at venues such as Foxhills, Oakley Court, The Grove, Goodwood and many more.
He describes his cooking style as ‘Contemporary British’ using classical techniques and has a passion for locally sourced, seasonal and fresh produce.
David has put together extensive menus across Burhill Golf Club ranging from intimate suppers to lavish five-course banquets.
