Burhill Captains
Men’s Captain – Sean
I’m very honoured to be serving as The Men’s Captain for 2025. I started my golfing career as a junior at Tralee Golf Club in the South West of Ireland many years ago and I still retain a membership there. It’s a very different golfing challenge to Burhill and I look forward to playing there with my family whenever I can. I joined Burhill in 2013, have met some great people at the club and enjoy nothing better than playing in the roll ups, competitions and in the various club matches. I’ve previously served on the Men’s Committee for 3 years as Joint Competitions Secretary and also as Vice Captain in 2024.
Ladies Captain – Lindsey
Lindsey Evans-Smith joined Burhill with her husband, Ed Smith, in 2013, after gracefully retiring from competitive hockey. Lindsey has played in the inter-club friendly matches as well as representing the Club in Surrey competitions. Lindsey served on the Social Committee for four years, being Chairperson in 2021. Lindsey was the 2022 Team Ireland Nations Cup Captain and served as the Derry Cup Manager for 2022-2024.
Junior Captain – Aaron
Aaron Moody is the Junior Captain of our club and one of the most promising young golfers in the region. He has already made a name for himself with outstanding performances at national level. More recently, he claimed victory at the Scottish Boys U16 Open Championship at Peebles. Aaron’s hard work led to a call up to the England Under 16 squad where he represented his country against Ireland at Ballybunion Golf Club in October 2025.

Captains’ 2025 Charity
Our 2025 club Captains have selected Shooting Star Children’s Hospices as their chosen charity for Burhill Golf Club to support for 2025.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or whose child has died.

Nick Moran
Executive General Manager
Nick, joined us as General Manager in 2022 bringing a wealth of experience and passion for creating exceptional experiences for both members and visitors. He has focused on enhancing every aspect of our club, ensuring that each guest feels valued and welcomed. Nick’s dedication to maintaining high standards and fostering a friendly, inclusive atmosphere sets the tone for an unforgettable experience at Burhill Golf Club.
Darren Wood
Head of Golf Operations
Darren joined in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his 19 years at the prestigious RAC.
In 2011, he became a fully qualified PGA Professional, and now leads the Golf Operations team with a focus on excellence, ensuring members and guests enjoy the best on and off the course. Darren continues to play a key role in upholding Burhill’s reputation as one of Surrey’s finest golfing venues.
Stuart Barr
Head of Clubhouse Operations
Stuart has over 25 years of experience in the private members club sector, providing a wealth of knowledge and expertise in enhancing the member experience, having dedicated his career to understanding the unique needs and preferences of club members. His ongoing commitment to fostering a welcoming and enjoyable environment aligns perfectly with our mission at Burhill Golf Club.
Rob Surgey
Senior Course Manager
Rob has a distinguished career that includes experience at renowned venues like Wentworth and The Forest of Arden, bringing a wealth of knowledge to our courses. He has expertly prepared for over 11 European Tour events. Rob’s commitment to excellence and his profound understanding of course management ensures that our courses remain in pristine condition for an outstanding golfing experience.
David Hanlon
Executive Chef
David, whose award-winning culinary expertise brings exceptional dining experiences to our members and guests. With over 35 years of experience in the industry, David has honed his skills at prestigious clubs such as Foxhills and Oakley Court. His cooking style reflects a contemporary British flair, showcasing his deep passion for locally sourced, seasonal, and fresh produce. This distinctive approach shines through in every special menu he creates.
